The broader culture says that “love is love.” So, what does this tautology mean? If love is love, then what is love? Is it an emotion or a choice or a commitment? Is it temporary or lasting? Is it temporal or transcendent? When Jesus talks about love, is he saying, “love is love,” or is he saying something different? If the greatest commandments are, first, to love the Lord our God with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength and, second, to love our neighbor as ourselves, then love is a topic worthy of inquiry. In this session of Young Philosophers, we will explore key questions and issues of love.
Young Philosophers is an online discussion for high-school-aged students. Join us for “What Is Love?” on Monday, January 12, 2026, from 6-7 p.m. PST. The discussion will be led by Gutenberg tutor Eliot Grasso.
