Monetary Gifts
Giving money to Gutenberg College is the most popular type of charitable gift. A contribution made by credit card can be deducted when the charge is made, regardless of the billing cycle. Otherwise, your monetary gift is considered made on the date that cash is hand-delivered or a check/money order is mailed (postmark date).
Because of the availability of the income-tax charitable-contribution deduction, the net cost to you of a monetary gift is lower than the face value of the gift. Monetary gifts are fully deductible up to fifty percent of your adjusted gross income. Any excess over the fifty-percent deduction ceiling can be carried forward for up to five additional years.
